Secondary School Long-distance Running Team
Henrietta Secondary School proudly captured third place in the Boys Grade A Team category at the Inter-school Cross Country Competition. Student Henry also achieved fifth place individually, marking a historic milestone for the school.
Six months ago, The Dawn x AKIV launched the “𝐑𝐮𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠” long-distance running program at Henrietta Secondary School. For most students, it was their very first experience with distance running — some joined to meet new friends, some to build better health, and others to improve their fitness base for other sports. Throughout the program, everyone committed wholeheartedly to training, pushing themselves step by step. Their steady progress was clearly seen by both coaches and teachers.
Thanks to AKIV’s generous sponsorship, students were given opportunities to take part in various competitions, gaining valuable race experience and feeling the excitement of competition. During two major events — the Run For Wellness and the Henderson Land x Pok Oi Central Harbourfront Charity Run 2026 — both coaches, teachers and students excitedly took to the stage to receive awards, realizing they were stronger than they had imagined. After these competitions, their determination and enthusiasm for running only grew greater. They set new goals — to run faster, steadier, and achieve personal bests in upcoming races.
As participation increased, the Boys Grade A team earned the chance to represent the school in inter-school competition. What began as a simple wish to experience the race atmosphere turned into a wonderful surprise — the team won third place overall, along with individual honors. Behind this success were countless hours of after-school training, route practices, and disciplined perseverance. Teachers and students worked side by side, dedicating even their Saturdays to prepare. This spirit of unity and persistence made history — Henrietta Secondary School earned its first-ever Cross Country Team award, one of the most meaningful gifts for the school’s 80th anniversary.
This achievement stands as both recognition and encouragement. Guided by the “4C” training philosophy — Control, Commitment, Confidence, and Challenge — students learned to manage themselves, stay dedicated, build confidence, and bravely face challenges. Even on race day, under light rain and cloudy skies, the team stood firm, giving their all. Learning to control their pace and stay focused despite external distractions built mental resilience more valuable than any trophy — strength that will serve them well in life’s future challenges.
May every student of Henrietta Secondary School find their own dream, and live with the “4C” spirit — to persevere, to grow, to chase dreams, and keep running toward a higher and farther future.
